The Motovilov family history is known since 1380 when the sort founder, the Lithuanian prince Montvil Motvid, has rescued prince Dmitry Donsky, having closed its body from an enemy spear during Kulikovskaya fight.
Outstanding members of a sort were N.A. Motovilov well-known "Sluzgka" of Saint Serafima Sarovsky,
Poetess Anna Ahmatova, writer Victor Nekrasov.
